FAQ
Have a question? Roll for investigation!
Are your dice balanced?
All my dice are balanced for regular TTRPG play. Each one is made with a pressure pot to minimise bubbles and inclusions, when they're used, are either made of the same type of the resin as the dice, or weigh so little it won't make any difference to the rolls.
Do you take commissions?
Yes! I would love to work with you. Give me a shout via hello@areaeffects.com and let’s chat.
What are your dice made of?
My dice are made with two-part epoxy resin and a variety of colourants and inclusions. I’m a huge fan of glitter and mica powders, but I also like to play with natural elements like flowers and crazy things like pom poms.
How should I care for my dice?
General Use: Avoid rolling your dice on hard surfaces like glass, concrete, and stone. Padded dice trays are ideal, but mats and cats* also work.
Cleaning: Wipe gently with a microfiber cloth and a small amount of soapy water. Dry immediately. Don’t soak or scrub your dice.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat. Resin can yellow over time and UV rays speed up this process. Dice bags are awesome, but watch out for metal dice already inside!
*Don’t roll your dice on a cat unless you want to lose your dice. Also, don’t eat the dice or put them where cats (or anyone else) can eat them either.

On Storytelling
My ultimate goal here at Area Effects is to help humans tell stories. Tabletop Rollplaying Games have an enormous capacity to evoke real emotions and give us a place to play within them.
Dealing the killing blow, saving an ally, retrieving the artifact, solving the puzzle: while these acts may be in our imaginations, the feelings they evoke are real and speak to what it is to be human.
We play because its fun. Because it brings us joy and brings us closer together.
